| The
Band |
Evolution
The WCM band has
evolved over the years. From just a drummer, the
band has now grown to include keyboards, trumpet,
saxophone, clarinet, trombone and percussion.
Brass Section
The band now has a brass section comprised of
Jacintha Hutson, Jamar Jemmot and Shawn Phillips.
They all play different brass instruments, some more
than one.
Percussion
Instruments
The band's percussion section is one of the things
that makes it unique. The percussion section has
bongo drums, conga drums, a cowbell and wind chimes.
Handheld instruments are also being introduced, such
as the triangle, African claves and woodblock.
Leadership
The band is lead by Rollinson Griffith, as
Spirit-filled and Spirit-led keyboardist. He teaches
keyboard and drum classes and has an excellent
understanding of advanced musical principles and
many genres.
Style
The bands musical styles during worship vary. The
band can go from traditional international worship
to Caribbean styles such as reggae and calypso. The
band has also been known to cross the cultural
barrier, infusing worship with Latin and Jewish
styles. |
