The gift of prophecy is for the entire Body of
Christ but God appoints someone to the office of
prophet, which is part of the five-fold ministry
(Ephesians 4:11).
The office of the prophet has administrative
responsibilities. The prophet has the same authority
to minister to the church as the pastor, as all the
components of the five-fold ministry are equal in
authority.
The prophet is authorized and anointed to give
direction, instruction, rebuke, judgment and
revelation.
Prophets alert the church to prepare for changes
in season. They are able to see what is next on
God's agenda. They sound the trumpet. The prophet is
God's gift to the church.
